Better Health, Better Care, Better Community Hospitals - The 2008 SACH Symposium

The 2008 SACH Symposium is shaping up to be be the conference of the year for everyone who works in Primary Care and/or Community Care.
This year's SACH Symposium, which is taking place on Friday, October 31 and Saturday, November 1, is being supported by a number of prominent Scottish Government people, including Graeme Dickson, Director of Primary & Community Care, who is opening the conference.
Other presenters on the first day of the Symposium include Jason Leitch and Jane Murkin of the Scottish Patient Safety Alliance; Anne Hendry, who will be looking at the role of Community Hospitals in the continuum of care of people living with Long Term Conditions; Elizabeth Ireland of the National Pallative Care Programme; Prof Dargie, who will be focusing on the Heart Failure National Audit. In addition, workshops and discussion groups on the above topics will also take place during the Symposium.
On the Saturday morning, the Symposium will look at subjects such as 'Intermediate Care in Community Hospitals: The What and the How?' by Sarah Mitchell, Jim Grant, Judy Gibson and Anne Hendry; examples of Intermediate Care from Lochgilphead, Aberdeenshire and Tayside by GPs Richard Sloan and Bob Liddle; The National Tissue Viability Programme and interesting research findings. Workshops and discussion groups will follow.
There will also be exhibitions on new builds such as St Andrews and Forfar, as well as the application of Telehealth. The 2008 SACH Symposium is being held at Carnoustie Hotel, which caters for all tastes, has undergone extensive refurbishment recently and has excellent golfing, leisure and spa facilities.
