SACH Committee Member Speaks At Top-Level Swedish Conference
11th September 2009
In May, Dr Hamish Greig of the SACH was invited to speak to the Swedish Society of Rural Medicine at their annual conference in Hemavan. "I believe the presentation I made at 'The Making It Work 3' Conference in Aviemore was the reason for the invitation," explained Hamish. "The core of the presentation was around the ethos and pattern of practice which the Association regards as best practice, using integrated intermediate care - including the Community Hospital - to assist in managing the patient within their community.
"The Swedish Medical director was very interested in the model I discussed at the Swedish conference and feels there is mileage in further discussions and working together, both with Scotland - through the Association - and also with the Norwegians, with whom we already have some links.
"We all have similar issues and there is a lot of interest in the clinical governance issues and the training and CPD issues for practitioners in all these rural countries," continued Hamish, who added that there is also interest in transferring the Ultrasound Project to Sweden.
If you would like to know more, Hamish will be at the SACH Symposium at the end of October - click below for details.
