SACH OPENS EDINBURGH OFFICE
20th February 2009
The Scottish Association of Community Hospitals has a new base, right in the heart of Edinburgh.
The SACH Office at 28 Dundas Street in Edinburgh, was officially opened on Thursday, February 12 by Frances Smith, Director of the SACH, and Bruce McMaster, Chair of the SACH. Despite blizzard conditions sweeping most of Scotland, there was a good attendance at the opening event, including SACH Committee members and representatives from the Joint Improvement Team, Quality Improvement Scotland, NHS Educational Services, Royal College of General Practitioners, Royal College of Nursing and the Scottish Government Health Department.
Moving to an office in Edinburgh is a monumental development for the Association, said Frances Smith, who explained that the Association is sharing the building with Salts Healthcare, who manufacture and supply stoma care and orthotic products to patients across the UK.
It is important for an organisation of our significance to have a base and, after years of managing without a proper office, to have an office which is as convenient and central as this will be a real advantage to the Association and its members.
Bruce McMaster stressed that the SACH office is not just an office. We also envisage 28 Dundas Street becoming an informal meeting place for the members of the SACH and anyone who is interested in or involved in Community Hospitals, he said. We see this office as somewhere members of the Association can pop in to say hello, have a coffee, access the internet and catch up with the latest developments in Community Hospitals.
